The Last Train Home

A man boards the last train and finds that everyone seems to know where he is going.

At 11:47, the train arrived with three people already sitting inside it. None of them looked up.

He took the seat beside the window. At the next station, a woman got on and smiled as though she recognised him.

“You’re late,” she said. He checked the time. 11:53. “For what?” She smiled again. “You’ll remember.”
